HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The Marshall men's soccer team (3-5-2, 2-1-0) collected its third victory of the season in spectacular fashion, defeating the Old Dominion Monarchs (4-4-1) in two periods of overtime with a goal by Daniel Jodah in the 108th minute at Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.
AGAINST THE MONARCHS
Old Dominion scored first with a 14 minute goal by Tyler Edwards, who collected a rebound from a Bijan Gloston (Clarksville, TN) save and slotted the ball home.
For the Herd, Jack Hopkins (Birmingham, Ala.) equalized and ended his goal drought, tying the game 1-1 in the 53rdminute from a free kick. That was the first Hopkins goal since September 27, 2013 where he scored another tying goal against the Bowling Green Falcons.
Jodah scored his goal in the 108thminute and was assisted by Nick Edginton (Wellington, New Zealand) and Tommy Trupo (Scott Depot, W.Va.), whose flick opened Jodah up for the far post winner. Jodah's game-winner was his third of the season, after also netting winners against Evansville and South Carolina.
THE GRAY AREA
Marshall Coach Bob Gray on the Old Dominion Game:
"First half they were all over us, we made some good adjustments in the second half and we knew we were capable of hanging with them"
"We know if we play the way we're capable of playing, were going to be in it at the end and hopefully have a chance to win and that's what happened tonight"
