Herd's Lagodich Wins Shortened Event

CASHIERS, N.C. - Marshall men's golfer Logan Lagodich (Canton, Ohio) was named co-champion of the Hummingbird Intercollegiate after the event's final 18-hole round (originally scheduled for Sunday) was canceled on Saturday at Country Club of Sapphire Valley. Inclement weather conditions, including snow and temperatures in the mid-20s, shortened the event from 36 to 18 holes.
On Day 1, Lagodich led a field of 75 individuals after matching his career-low round of 4-under-par 67 on Friday, tying with Wehman Hopke of Furman. Lagodich shot the most birdies of any golfer at the event (8) and tied for the best par-4 average (3.73).
Lagodich earned the second individual win of his career, as he championed the ODU/OuterBanks Intercollegiate title last season (fall 2013). His title was the fourth individual victory in the last two seasons for the Herd - two by Lagodich, and one apiece by Brian Anania and Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.) last season.
In the last two seasons, Coach Matt Grobe's program has three team titles and four individual crowns.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
Clemson shot 6-under 278 to win the tournament while Furman posted 5-under 279 as runner-up. The Thundering Herd carded even 284, placing third. Marshall had the second-best average of the field on par-4 holes at 4.02, and had the third-most birdies as a team (20).
