Herd Completes C-USA Cross Country Championships

DENTON, Texas - The Marshall men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2014 Conference USA Championships on Saturday, finishing eighth and 11th in their respective races at Eagle Point Cross Country Course.
On the men's side, senior Caleb Bowen (Hurricane, W.Va.) led the Thundering Herd with a 25:19 finish in the men's 8K run to place 25th. Sophomore Andrea Porter (Point Pleasant, W.Va.) had the best finish for the Herd women in the 5K, finishing 53rd at 18:52.
Host North Texas claimed the men's team victory with 50 points, followed by UTEP (58) and Middle Tennessee (67). The Miners took top-2 individual honors on the men's side with Anthony Rotich (24:04) winning his third-consecutive C-USA Men's Individual title, and Cosmas Boit placing second (24:08). For the women, Middle Tennessee championed the event with 55 points, followed by Rice (62) and North Texas (91). The Owls' Cali Roper finished first at 16:43, winning her first C-USA individual title.
