Volleyball To End Regular Season This Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall volleyball (14-15, 8-6) concludes its 2014 regular season this weekend, heading to Houston to face Rice (21-7, 11-3) on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. and then UAB (7-23, 3-11) in Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
The Herd clinched its third consecutive Conference USA tournament spot last weekend, after defeating FAU in a grueling five set battle on Friday.

HAVE YOU HERD?
The Herd has won five of its last seven, including four in a row before falling to Western Kentucky 3-0 on Sunday.
Junior Lauren Legge (Pliny, W.Va.) has turned in double-digit kills in seven of the Herd's last eight matches, bringing her season total to 282.
Senior Sammie Bane (Brownstown, Ind.) leads in the conference with league games with 19 service aces, and 27 total. The setter has tallied 1,016 assists this season, including five games where has record 50+ assists.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Rice enters the week looking to secure a No. 3 seed in the C-USA Tournament. The Owls are led offensively by Leah Mikesky, who has 349 kills.
The Rice net game is controlled by senior Jillian Humphrey, who has 97 total blocks. Humphrey is second on the squad with 276 slams.
SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
UAB is led by sophomore Gabby Deshotel, who sports 289 kills on the season. The Blazers' defense is led by senior Sara Rishell, who has 102 total blocks.
WE MEET AGAIN
Marshall faced Rice in 2013, when then-freshman Elyse Panick (Chicago) tallied 11 kills in the match.
The Herd and Blazers played earlier this year, as Marshall fell to UAB 3-1. Legge collected a then season and personal best of 19 kills with a .308 hitting percentage.
UP NEXT
Marshall will play in the C-USA Tournament beginning Friday, Nov. 21. Time and opponent have yet to be announced.
