Herd Moves to 22nd in Amway USA Today Coaches Poll

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall football team moved up a spot in Sunday’s Amway USA Today Coaches Poll to a tie for 22nd with Utah.
The coaches gave the Thundering Herd (8-0 overall, 4-0 Conference USA) and Utes (6-2) 253 points apiece, while Marshall held its 23rd ranking in the Associated Press poll with 238 points. The Herd is the highest-ranked Group of Five school in both polls.
The College Football Playoff poll will be released Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Marshall is ranked in the top 25 of 96 statistical categories, including first overall in scoring margin (29.4 points), yards per play (7.91), 30+ yard scrimmage plays (36), 60+ yard rushing plays (7), 60+ yard scrimmage plays (9), 60+ yard scrimmage plays allowed (tied, 0), 20+ yard rushing plays allowed (tied, 4) and winning percentage (tied, 1,000).
The Herd travels to Southern Miss (3-6, 1-4) for Saturday’s 7 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. CT contest that will be televised on the American Sports Network.
