Marshall Head Coach Doc Holliday

On Miami week:

Captains for this week for offense will be Rakeem Cato and Chris Jasperse and for defense they will be James Rouse and Darryl Roberts. Three of those four guys will be three of the permanent captains for the year. Chuck Martin has been very successful wherever he has been. So, I know he and his staff will have that football team we are getting ready to play on Saturday well prepared. Anytime you add a big time quarterback to your program, like Andrew Hendrix, it is a problem for us. He played significantly last year at Notre Dame. He is very athletic and we will have our hands full with him, so we will have to be prepared for him. Then if you add in a tight end by the name of Alex Welch, he also played at Notre Dame last year. He will be a big time tight end. They also added a guy named Lo Wood, a corner who's also from Notre Dame. So you add three really good players to that roster who have a good background then they are going to be a much improved football team. I know we are going to have our hands full down there and we better do a great job in preparation this week.

On watching past footage of Coach Martin's games:

Chuck is a heck of a football coach. He was at Grand Valley State and Notre Dame. He has been very successful wherever he has been. We don't know exactly what we are getting. We went clear back to Grand Valley and clear back to Notre Dame. The one thing that you can tell is when you look at the quarterback, Hendrix, when he was at Notre Dame, he had a lot of actual quarterback runs and he can make all the throws. So we know exactly what we are going to get from him. He is talented enough to do both. He can run the ball, he can throw it, and he can beat you with his feet. So we have to prepare for a lot of different things.

On what the true freshmen have to do in order to be in game situations:

Antavis Rowe kid is special. He is very talented and athletic. We are trying to work him in a little bit as a nickel back. Most of the time when you talk about playing freshmen, you want them to prove themselves on special teams, earn our trust on special teams from the get go so we can actually get them in the game on offense and defense. We think he is a talented guy who can help us there. Jerome Dews is a guy who can possibly help us in our pass rush situations. He did that throughout fall camp and he can help us there. Tomell One has played a lot inside and is a talented defensive lineman who can provide a lot of depth in there. If you look at the offense, Emanuel Beal is a big strong guy who has made plays throughout camp that we need to keep bringing along. We think all those guys can help provide depth and also help us in special teams.

On Angelo Jean-Louis Starting

He makes plays. The one thing that we do is come up with a production chart. At the receiver position, it's not about how many snaps you make but it's about how many plays you make. You have the opportunity to make 20 plays and if you make 18 out of the 20, then chances are you can kind of tell by the production sheet who has made plays throughout camp and who is the most productive guy because production is what matters in skill positions, not potential. So, he makes plays and has made plays all camp and has continued to do that. When the ball comes toward him, it is a good chance he will make a play and it's going to be critical for him to continue to make plays for the game Saturday.
