Sept . 12 home opener vs. Middle Tennessee also features 2026 Hall of Fame recognition
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football will officially kick off the 2026 home portion of its season on Sat., Sept. 12 when the Thundering Herd welcomes Middle Tennessee to Joan C. Edwards Stadium for the first time since 2020.

The "We Are…Marshall" game theme is centered around the passion and pride of Herd Nation. From tailgating lots to the stands of Joan C. Edwards Stadium, the night will celebrate the traditions that make Marshall Football Saturdays in Huntington special.
It is about community. It is about family. It is about Herd fans returning to The Joan together for the first time in 2026 to tailgate, reconnect and cheer on the Thundering Herd.
Fans are encouraged to wear green as Marshall creates a full-stadium green out atmosphere for the home opener. Rally towels will be distributed while supplies last.
The game will feature the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative, with local educators being recognized during the game. Teachers throughout the region will also be included in special group ticket opportunities as part of the celebration.
Presented by Network for Hope, the home opener will also include special group ticket opportunities for the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce, Marshall faculty and staff, and local businesses and community partners throughout the region.
The 2026 Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will also be recognized at this game. The 2026 inductees will be released in the coming weeks.
Single-game tickets for the 2026 football season will go on sale July 15, while mini plans become available June 15. Season tickets are on sale now.
Marshall fans will also experience several enhancements to the 2026 game day atmosphere at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, including expanded concession offerings featuring Chick-fil-A, additional fan experience upgrades throughout the stadium, and a new interactive 3D stadium map — coming soon — designed to help fans easily locate concessions, merchandise, and other amenities on game day.
The "We Are…Marshall" home opener is the first of six themed home games that will be unveiled throughout the summer as Marshall Athletics continues to elevate the fan experience and celebrate the traditions that unite Herd Nation.
