HAVE YOU HERD?

Freshman forward Mack Moore (West Chester, Pa.) found the back of the net for the first time in a Marshall uniform as the Thundering Herd extended its historic unbeaten streak to 10 matches, winning 1-0 on Sunday against defending Conference USA champion Rice at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex. Marshall is 8-1-2, 1-0-1 on the year, gaining its first win in C-USA play after battling to a scoreless draw with North Texas last Friday.

HERD IN THE RANKINGS
Marshall is rising in the national spotlight, as the Herd jumped from 69th to 42nd in the NCAA RPI rankings on Monday, tops in Conference USA. The Herd also earned a spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Central Region poll, appearing at No. 8 on Tuesday.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Seniors Jenna Dubs (Green Lane, Pa.) and Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) swept weekly Conference USA defensive honors as Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday. The Herd defense has not allowed a goal in 538 minutes, a streak dating back to a 2-1 win over ETSU on Sept. 11.

The award is the second weekly honor for each, Dubs on Sept. 14 this season and Kish on Sept. 22, 2013. The accolades mark the fifth consecutive week with at least one C-USA award for Marshall. Other Herd winners on the offensive side this season include forward Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.) Aug. 31 and Sept. 21, and M/F Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio) on Sept. 8. The six awards are the most in a Herd season.

KISH IS A KEEPER

Kish booked her fourth consecutive blank sheet with the Herd's 1-0 defeat of Rice on Sunday and broke a school record with the 18th shutout of her career. She has started every match in goal for the Herd dating to 2013, reaching a streak of 50 starts. This season, Kish holds top marks in the league with a 0.29 goals against average and .919 save percentage. The defending C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week earned an honorable mention for the Top Drawer Soccer Women's Team of the Week on Tuesday.

DECORATED DUBS

In addition to being named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week, Dubs earned multiple national accolades for her weekend performances against North Texas and Rice. On Tuesday, she was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Women's Team of the Week and the College Soccer 360 National Primetime Performers Honor Roll. Dubs, the Herd's primary corner kick specialist, extended her streak of consecutive starts to 69 on Sunday - every match of her career.

SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS

UTSA (1-8-1, 1-1-0) posted its first win of the season with a 1-0 shutout of Florida Atlantic on Sunday, ending a three-match losing streak. Goalkeeper Katherine Tesno made a career-high 11 saves in the victory. The Roadrunners are led by Lauren Hodgdon's five points on two goals and one assist.

The teams met for the first time last season, with the Herd taking a 1-0 victory over UTSA (Oct. 10, 2014). This is Marshall's first trip to San Antonio.

SCOUTING THE MINERS

UTEP (8-4-0, 1-1-0) saw its six-match win streak snapped by FIU, 3-2, on Sunday in Miami. It was a wild finish with the Miners tying the contest (2-2) on an Aleah Davis header at 88:23 only to have the Panthers' Scarlet Montoya blast home a shot on a free kick from just outside the box with 29 seconds remaining in regulation. UTEP will face WKU at home on Friday before hosting the Herd on Sunday. Angela Cutaia leads the Miners with 18 points on eight goals and two assists.

UTEP owns a 5-2-1 overall lead in the series with the Herd, but Marshall has a 2-1-1 advantage in the teams' last four meetings. The Herd is 0-3 all-time when playing in El Paso, with its last trip being Sept. 23, 2011. Last season, the clubs played to a scoreless draw at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex (Oct. 12, 2014).
