@Herd_Tennis Climbs a No. 55 Ranking

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall University climbed to No. 55 - a hike of 18 spots - in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association top 75 rankings for NCAA Division I women's teams.

Entering into its sixth week of dual match competition in the 2015 spring season, the Herd (6-3) has fallen only to then-No. 1 UCLA, then-No. 74 UC Irvine and then-No. 50 Virginia Tech. All three are currently ranked in the top 50.

Marshall is the highest-ranked Conference USA team in this week's ITA listing. The only other ranked C-USA team is Rice, at No. 58. The Herd will take on Rice in Houston on March 18.

Five additional future Herd opponents are featured in the latest poll -- No. 73 Utah, No. 39 Houston, No. 38 DePaul, No. 28 William and Mary, and No. 62 VCU.

Marshall remains home at the Huntington Tennis Center this weekend to face Penn State on Saturday at noon and No. 73 Utah next Monday in a 7 p.m. start.
