@Herd_Tennis Ready for Another Home Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - After a 1-1 away weekend, No. 55 Marshall tennis is set return home this weekend for two matches at the Huntington Tennis Club in Barboursville, W. Va.

First, the Herd will take on Penn State (2-6) Saturday, Feb. 28 at noon.

The weekend will conclude when Marshall takes on No. 73 University of Utah (1-6) Monday, March 2 at 7 p.m.



HTC will also play host to the Penn State/Utah dual match scheduled for Sunday, March 1 at 11 a.m.

HAVE YOU HERD?



Last season the Herd played both teams on the road, securing the teams first ranked win over (at the time No. 57) Penn State 4-3 but falling to (at the time No. 27) Utah 5-2 over spring break.

Sophomore Rachael Morales (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) has only tallied one singles loss this spring season, dropping a three-set match against No. 74 Minnesota.

Sophomore Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) and freshman Maddie Silver (Grand Rapids, Mich.) each have lost only two matches in individual competition in 2015.

Doubles duos of senior Kai Broomfield (Toronto, Canada)/freshman Mairja Bogecevic (Belgrade, Serbia), and Morales/Silver have both posted five doubles wins this season.

SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS



Penn State (2-6) is coming off a 4-3 win over VCU. Their No. 1 player, Victoria Kisialeva is 2-4 at the No. 1 spot this season. In doubles, she and partner Dasha Sapogava (5-1) are ranked No. 51 in the nation.

SCOUTING THE UTES



No. 73 Utah features nationally-ranked Tereza Bekerova (No. 53) as their number one singles player. Bekerova and partner Margo Pletcher are ranked No. 31 in the nation in doubles.

UP NEXT



The Herd will be back on the road for two away matches. Friday, March 6 Marshall will take on University of Cincinnati and then conclude its weekend against in-state rival West Virginia in Morgantown, W.Va. on Sunday, March 8.
