@HerdVolleyball Adds Two to 2015 Roster

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall volleyball Coach Mitch Jacobs announced the signing of Kassidy Lemons, a defensive specialist from Prichard, W.Va., and Zoe Schreiber, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker from Hagerstown, Md., on Wednesday.
Both will join the Herd as freshmen on the 2015 roster.
"We are very excited to be adding Kassidy and Zoe to our roster," Jacobs said. "They are very competitive and will add quality players to our everyday practice environment. I believe both will have the chance to make an impact here.
"They also both come from very strong high school and good club programs that have given them an understanding of what will be expected at the next level. They have great work ethic and I could sense that they fit in very well with the group of athletes that they will be joining."
Kassidy "Kass" Lemons, 5-7, Spring Valley High School Hometown: Prichard, W.Va.
Lemons spent four seasons at Spring Valley, where she was a two-time All-State first team selection and Conference Player of the Year (2013, 2014). During her freshman season, she helped lead the Timberwolves to a Class AAA state championship in 2011.
The defensive specialist was selected to the West Virginia North-South All-Star team in December 2014, and ended her high school career with 1,305 kills, 750 digs, a .480 hitting percentage, and 125 service aces.
Lemons has played for five years with the River Cities Volleyball Club. She has a 4.0 GPA at Spring Valley as a member of National Honor Society and the mathematics fraternity Mu Alpha Theta. She plans to major in biology with a minor in chemistry.
Coach Jacobs on Lemons:
"Kassidy is someone that we have been able to watch grow up. She has always been one of the very best players in her class in the state and has outstanding athleticism. You cannot wear her out. Her fitness is as good as any player we have ever had come through the River Cities program. Being only 5-7, she will be adjusting from a player that has played all six rotations to one who will need to focus now in the back row. With that said, I know she will impact us and could do so early in her career.
"It is always exciting when a local player with her skill level chooses to play here and represent the Herd. Kassidy will make it six roster players from the state on our 2015 team and in their own ways all have added to our everyday success. These kids have so much pride when they take the court for Marshall, you can't help but love to coach them."
Zoe Schreiber, 6-1, North Hagerstown High School Hometown: Hagerstown, Md.
Schreiber will join the Herd as a three-time first team all-county selection (2012, 2013, 2014) and three-time all-conference selection (2012 second team) (2013, 2014 first team), Zoe led the Hubs to three consecutive MVAL conference championships and two 3A Maryland state championships (2012, 2014).
As a middle blocker, Schreiber was named the 2014 Washington County Player of the Year and was an All-State first team selection while being named to the PrepVolleyball.com All-America honorable mention list.
Schreiber collected 621 kills, 68 aces, 91 blocks, and 305 digs during three varsity seasons at North Hagerstown. She will graduate in May with a 3.92 GPA and plans to major in biology on the pre-veterinary track.
Coach Jacobs on Schreiber:
"Zoe will give us some added size and can probably play any of the three front-row positions. As she develops in practice and we can feel out her skill set further, we will be able to make a better decision as to where she will fit. As of now, most of her time has been spent in the middle blocker position, and she has a very live arm that can score. "
