HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Lightning and rain in the vicinity forced a suspended game for Marshall softball and North Texas at Dot Hicks Field Friday.
The first game of the three game Conference USA series was not completed before the inclement weather forced a stoppage of play. This forced a postponement of the first game, which will resume Saturday at 9 a.m.
Marshall currently leads 1-0 in the top of the sixth inning.
The game was halted with a 1-2 count for Mallory Land of North Texas, with no outs and no runners on base in the top of the sixth inning.
Marshall took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, after sophomore Rebecca Myslenski laced a single to right center, which scored junior Katalin Lucas.
The Herd and North Texas will also play games immediately after game one.
