Rachael Morales (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and Maddie Silver (Grand Rapids, Mich.) secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court 3.
Sophomore duo Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) and Derya Turhan (Bad Something, Germany) took a tough 6-4 loss on court 1.

The battle continued throughout singles play.

The Tribe took a 2-1 lead by snatching 2 singles wins from Broomfield (6-2, 6-0) on court 4 and Bogecevic (6-3, 6-1) on court 5.

Morales answered with a straight set win at the No. 6 spot, evening the score to 2-2

With three matches remaining in action, Pomyatinskaya secured a straight set (6-4, 6-4) win on court 2, putting the Herd ahead 3-2

Turhan was left on the court unfinished in her nail-biting 6-7, 6-6 match on court 1.

The Herd will have only two more regular season matches before the Conference Tournament. First, the Herd will travel to Norfolk to take on Conference USA foe No. 73 Old Dominion Friday, April 10. The team will then travel to Richmond to take on VCU Saturday, April 11.

Quotes by head coach John Mercer
"Today was a great win. William and Mary always has a tough team and I'm proud of how our girls rose to the challenge."

"A competitive spirit can make a huge difference in the match. It was encouraging to watch Derya and Maddie fight until the end. Anna and Rachael also did a great job competing."

"We could still be better in certain areas, but to play the way we played and get two ranked wins says a lot about our team."
