Eight @HerdMSoccer Players in Summer Leagues

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Eight Marshall men's soccer players are spending their offseasons performing across three amateur leagues.
Four are playing in the Premier Development League, a third-tier organization in the United Soccer League. Three are playing in the National Premier Soccer League, a level similar to the PDL. Another is in the Evergreen Premier League in the Pacific Northwest.
Players use the thesel leagues as a way to stay sharp in the college soccer offseason and to gain exposure.
Below is a list of Marshall's players in summer leagues.
Senior D Matt Freeman -- SC United Bantams (PDL)
Senior D/MF Jack Hopkins -- Chattanooga FC (NPSL)
Senior MF Nick Edginton -- Chattanooga FC (NPSL)
Senior MF Ryan Forde -- FC Indiana (NPSL)
Junior MF Daniel Jodah -- Toronto FC Academy (PDL)
Junior D Arthur Duchesne -- U-23 Pittsburgh Riverhounds (PDL)
Sophomore D Cory Shimensky -- Spokane Shadow (EPL)
Sophomore MF Christian Kershaw -- DC United U-23 (PDL)
Herd coach Bob Gray said the team is happy for the players and hopes the season will have them ready for the fall regular season.
"We're very happy that the players have the opportunity to play this summer throughout the United States and Canada," Gray said. "It's a great opportunity for them to hone their skills and be prepared for our preseason in August."
"We are also excited for both Nick Edginton and Jack Hopkins, who have made it through the first two rounds of the US Open Cup (a tournament among USL, NASL and MLS teams) with Chattanooga FC. We are also excited that Daniel Jodah has been selected as one of the 15 players to watch in the PDL with Toronto."
"We wish them all good luck and health and we hope they represent Marshall University well this summer."
