@HerdSB Named Fifth Seed for C-USA Championship

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall softball team (35-14, 14-8) has earned the No. 5 seed in the Conference USA Championship, hosted by FIU in Miami, the league office announced today.
Marshall will play the second game on Thursday, May 7, against UAB at 1:30 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Western Kentucky and Charlotte, who will play in the first game of the Championship. The championship game will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 on CBS College Sports Network.
Marshall and UAB completed a three game series on Sunday, with Marshall winning the series, sweeping both games on Saturday by scores of 6-1 and 5-2.
The Thundering Herd leads Conference USA in batting average (.348) and stolen bases (Marshall's 153 is 75 more than any other school). Sophomore pitcher Jordan Dixon (Edmond, Okla.) leads the conference in wins (33) and strikeouts (303). Marshall sophomore Morgan Zerkle (Milton, W.Va.) leads in batting average (.512) and stolen bases (48, which equals her school record.) A full list of Conference USA statistics is available here.
