Zerkle Named to CoSIDA All-Academic Team

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall softball's Morgan Zerkle (Milton, W.Va.) continues to collect awards for her stellar play and strong academic work. The sophomore has been named to the COSIDA All-Academic Team for District II (including W.Va., Conn., DC, Del., Ky., Md. and Pa.).

COSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America. The awards consist of 12 student-athletes from each division and are based on overall GPA and performance in 2015.

Earlier Thursday, Zerkle was named the Conference USA Player of the Year by College Sports Madness. She also has been named to the All-Conference USA First Team and the Conference USA All-Academic team.

Zerkle has a 3.62 GPA in Marshall's exercise science program. She set the Marshall record with 89 hits and leads Division I in stolen bases. Her .512 batting average is also No. 2 in Division I and she is ranked in the Division I top-ten with 62 runs.
