IRVING, TEXAS - Marshall volleyball's Allie Kellerman (Louisville, Ky.) was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week as the Herd won the Panthers Invitational over the past weekend at High Point University. Marshall took two out of three matches, including its second win against ACC opponents (Boston College, Wake Forest) this season.

"I'm very pumped for Allie," Herd coach Mitch Jacobs said. "I'm sure the whole team is pretty pumped for Allie. She works as hard as any kid in this program ever has and has truly embraced her position change to the six zone. I'm looking forward to watching her continue to grow as a leader and keep our defense going in the right direction."

The junior libero was named the Panthers Invitational MVP after an impressive three-game performance as she was the backbone for the Herd's defense with 93 digs, including a career-high 36 against Davidson.

Kellerman's 36 digs against the Wildcats are the most in Conference USA in 2015, while it was one shy of the Herd's all-time single match record of 37 set by Wendy Williams in 1999.

The junior turned in a 6.64 digs per set average on the weekend. She also recorded six assists and one kill, her first kill since last season's conference tournament.

Through 10 games this season, Kellerman has 218 digs and is third on the team in assists with 27.

Marshall will look to retain the "Golden Ball" as it travels to in-state rival West Virginia on Tuesday, Sept. 15 for a 6 p.m. first serve.
