HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team (2-1-0) will play its fourth consecutive road game against Liberty (1-2-0) on Tuesday in search of its third straight win. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. at Osborne Stadium in Lynchburg, Va.
HAVE YOU HERD?
With its 1-0 win on Friday against Duquesne, the Herd improved to 2-1-0, with two straight wins. Both wins were 1-0 victories.
Two newcomers have scored both Marshall in 2015. Freshman Chris Taibi (Wantagh, N.Y.) and junior transfer Rimario Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica), scored the winners against Detroit and Duquesne, respectively.
Marshall's 2-1-0 start is the best three-game start the team has had since 2010, when the Herd had an equal mark.
EDGINTON NAMED A SENIOR CLASS CANDIDATE
Senior defender/midfielder Nick Edginton (Wellington, New Zealand), is one of 30 NCAA Division I men's soccer players that has been named a candidate for the Senior CLASS award.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
Each of the two 30-candidate classes will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
SCOUTING LIBERTY
The Flames are 1-2-0 this season, with two straight losses. In the team's home opener, it defeated Bluefield (Va.) 2-1 and then dropped a road game to William and Mary (4-2) and a home match to NC State (2-0).
Four Flames players (Blessing Tahouna, Nico Bellarde, Tyler Bullock and Tim Harbison) have already scored a goal this season. Coach Jeff Alder is in his 15th season with the program.
