HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University's track and field team returns to its 2015-2016 home indoor schedule Friday, hosting the second annual Thundering Herd Invitational at the Jeff Small Track at the Chris Cline Athletic Complex.
The meet starts Friday at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday at 9 a.m. A schedule of events is available here.
Tickets for the event are $7 for adults, $5 for children 17 and under. Spectators are asked to enter through the Hall of Fame entrance to the facility.
This is the Herd's second home meet of the 2015-16 season, after winning the Marshall Opener against Ohio and Radford on Dec. 3, 2015. Marshall athletes broke three records at the meet. Freshman Elisabeth Paulina broke the school, meet and facility record in the 600-meter run (1:32.80). Senior Shanice Johnson broke her own school record and also set a meet and facility record with a time of 40.52 in the 300-meter dash. Freshman Allie Perry also broke the school record in the pole vault (3.35 meters).
This is only the Herd's second competition of 2016, after last week's Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., was canceled due to winter storm Jonas.
Marshall coach Jeff Small said he was excited about the level of competition at the meet.
"It should be some really good competition," Small said. "We've got 19 NCAA Division I schools here with some very good programs, so I'm excited to see what the competition holds for us."
