Marshall Men's Golf Completes Mountaineer Intercollegiate

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Marshall men's golf team turned in its best round of the Mountaineer Intercollegiate in the third and final round. The team finished 14th overall.
Marshall overcame a tough first two rounds and battled back to shoot 10 strokes better than its round two total. The combined 297 was the sixth best score in the third round. Junior Alex Weiss improved by four shots from round two to three to score a 1-under 71 and finished tied for 15th to lead the Herd.
Senior A.T. Cashwell improved every round. He made a three stroke jump from round one to two and then another four shot improvement from round two to three. Senior Will Evans made the biggest improvement in the third round with a six shot difference.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
Arkansas ran away with the team title finishing with a 6-under 858 for the tournament. The Razorbacks ended the event 11 shots ahead of the runner-up Mississippi State. Patrick Flavin of Miami (OH) took the individual award with an overall 6-under 210. Flavin held off Ryan Cole of James Madison by one stroke for the win.

Head Coach Matt Grobe:
"Alex (Weiss) and Clark (Robinson) really played well today and the rest of the guys fought hard. We definitely didn't play well this week but the guys didn't give up and fought to the very end."
