HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall softball team split with the Ohio Bobcats in fall ball exhibition action Sunday afternoon at Dot Hicks Field. Ohio claimed game one 6-0 with Marshall taking game two 3-1.

Marshall recorded three hits in game one while the Bobcats came out swinging belting two home runs. Six total pitchers saw action as both teams allowed players to come and get some time in the circle. Senior Jordan Dixon got the start for the Herd and went the first and went the first 3 1/3 innings. Sophomore Ali Burdette entered the game in the fourth and pitched through the sixth. Sophomore Abigail Tolbert finished the game with a great performance in the seventh striking out two batters.

The Herd played very well in the first game. Senior Morgan Zerkle made several plays at shortstop including an over the shoulder catch in shallow left field and a seat sliding catch about in between the circle and second base. Junior catcher Taylor McCord picked off three Bobcat runners and junior Eloise Tribolet threw out a runner at home from center field to end the top of the seventh.

In game two the Herd recorded nine hits in the 3-1 victory. Freshman Kailee Williamson went the distance and allowed just six hits and seven strikeouts. Zerkle led off with a triple to right center field and then scored on a wild pitch.

Marshall scored two more in the fourth after Junior Elicia D'Orazio and senior Shaelynn Braxton took advantage of a wild pitch and an error on the second baseman.
