MARSHALL (2-5, 1-2 C-USA)

Doc Holliday, head coach

Opening thought:
Obviously give Brad [Lambert] and Charlotte credit. They found a way to win that game in the end, and we didn't. It's disappointing.

On the second half:
We did not start fast at all. We responded, came back and answered with all that. At the end of the day, we didn't finished at the end of the game and it's disappointing. We moved the ball around, we just didn't take care of the ball, and we committed way too any penalties. We didn't make plays when we had to make plays, it's unfortunate.

On the impact of the Davis fumble at the goal line:
It would have been a two-score game. At the end of the day you hope you would be able to come away with three there. We ended up coming up short and that's not good.

On the overturned fumble:
I thought it was a fumble, but it is what it is. Again we took the ball down there and had the opportunity to make a play there at the end on the ten yard line, and we didn't make it. We had an opportunity to kick a field goal to send the game into overtime, and we didn't make that either. We just didn't make enough plays.

Chase Litton, sophomore quarterback

On the offensive performance:
We just went out there and didn't finish. Coach Legg put us in situations to succeed and we made our plays but something would come up. As a team and as an offense, that's on us. We have to come back tomorrow, realize what we did wrong and go back out there and execute it.

On his role as the quarterback:
As the quarterback of this team, I have to step up and answer the questions. I have to get better and improve to even get out of the situation of it being a three-point game at the end of the game trying to make that third down. I have to put this team in the best situations to succeed and that's on me.

On finishing games:
We have to be able to finish games. The coaches put us in every situation we need to be put in and it's on us because we didn't finish. Every time we got into the red zone we had success and then we backed ourselves up.

Ryan Yurachek, junior tight end

On mistakes:
We made mistakes when we couldn't afford to make them. We can't have holding calls happen on plays that go for a touchdown. We can make mistakes but all of our mistakes are coming at the wrong time.

On the season:
The chips have not been falling our way. You can either roll up in a little ball and feel sorry for yourself or you can get ready to go take on one of the better teams in the conference in Southern Miss next week, and hopefully we do that.

Deon-Tay McManus, redshirt junior wide receiver

On how to move on from the loss:
The only thing we can do is come back tomorrow, hit the weight room, watch film and practice and come together as a team and as a family and bounce back from this. We can't worry about the outside noise.

On Charlotte:
They didn't quit. They kept fighting, punch for punch. They have a tremendous coach over there and he has that team in the right mindset. They just don't stop fighting.

Gary Thompson, redshirt senior defensive lineman

On the outcome:
We made a lot of mistakes, but in the end, we had a chance to win the game and came up short.

On Charlotte running back Kalif Phillips
He's a short and compact guy, but he's very quick and likes to run over people, so we had to gang tackle him. He's a good back.

CHARLOTTE (3-5, 2-2 C-USA)

Brad Lambert, head coach

Opening thoughts:
This is a tough place to play. There have been a lot of big wins in this stadium. I told our team coming in, this is a huge opportunity to come into a place that has experienced a lot of wins. We really challenged our team hard, I wasn't sure if we could win the game, but we played well. We made some plays down the stretch.

On coach Ratliff:
I told the team coming into the game, 'how amped up do you think Coach Ratliff would be right now?' It was pretty emotional after the game. His family was here and I know what the Marshall people think of him. They think of him like I do. This was a good place for him, and this is huge for our program. A huge win for our program.

On finding success in C-USA play:
No question it's good to get some footing. We kept finding ways to mess things up at the end, and I've challenged our team the past three weeks to just keep attacking. One play at a time and expect good things to happen at the end, and it did for us tonight.

On crucial late call being ruled incomplete:
At first glance I thought it was a fumble. It was a risky play to throw it that late. That was a big play, but a bigger play was us punching the ball out when [Keion] Davis was driving towards the goal line.

On games coming down to the end:
We're such a young team, only in year four of our program. To win games in this league we'll have to take games into the fourth quarter and find a way to win them.
