Marshall Football Set For 2026 Sun Belt Football Media Days

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Marshall head coach Tony Gibson is being joined by Herd quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson and defensive back Daytione Smith at the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Football Media Days on Wednesday at Marriott New Orleans Warehouse Arts District.
The event runs Wednesday, July 15 and Thursday, July 16 in New Orleans. East Division teams are participating on Wednesday while West Division teams will go on Thursday.
Marshall's Media Day contingent will be in the SBC Studios with Matt Stewart and Rocky Boiman at 12:30 p.m. ET/11:30 p.m. CT in a feed that can be seen HERE.
The Herd will then take center stage at the podium for 2026 SBC Media Days at 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT. The 2026 SBC Podium Feed can be seen HERE.
Del Rio-Wilson will have much of the attention on him after being voted as the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
The Atlanta native enters the 2026 season leading all returning SBC players in total yards (2,704), rushing yards per game (60.1) and QB Rating (151.8) and is one of only two returning FBS quarterbacks to throw for 2,000 yards, rush for 600 yards and complete 65 percent of passes in the 2025 season.
Smith is also a 2026 Preseason All-SBC First Team selection at defensive back after a 2025 season in which he recorded 50 tackles and added three interceptions, which is tied for the most among returning SBC players.
Marshall led the Sun Belt Conference with nine total selections on the 2026 Preseason All-SBC Team and also led the league in most players selected for first team (6 – 5 offense, 1 defense).
The Herd was chosen to finish third in the East Division in the 2026 SBC Preseason Poll. James Madison was chosen to win the East while Troy was chosen to win the West.
Marshall opens the 2026 Football season on Sept. 5 at Penn State.
