Herd Tennis Ready to Open Home Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Marshall Tennis is set to host its first home matches of the season as it faces off against the Morehead State Eagles and the Radford Highlanders on Friday, Feb. 5 at the Huntington Tennis Club. The Herd will take on the Eagles at 10 a.m. and wrap up the competition with the Highlanders at 5 p.m.
HAVE YOU HERD?
56th-ranked Marshall is currently 1-2 this season, with its lone victory coming at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend against No. 68 Yale in a come-from-behind win, 4-3. The Herd has faced tough competition as all three opponents have been ranked, including No. 28 South Carolina and No. 48 Tulsa.
The Herd is led by 99th-ranked Derya Turhan, who has played primarily in the No. 1 spot. Turhan is 11-6 this year, including a current three-match win streak. Also capturing wins for Marshall in dual matches is junior Rachael Morales and sophomore Maddie Silver.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Morehead State is currently 0-2 overall this season with losses at Cincinnati and Louisville.
The Eagles have three people who have each one a match this season. Junior Hayley Wild and Sophomore Aleksandra Savic earned up their lone wins of the season against Cincinnati on Jan. 29. Senior Ayaka Terashi was able to capture Morehead's only win against the Cardinals.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford is 0-3 this season with losses to 30th-ranked Virginia Tech, Western Carolina and Richmond.
Redshirt freshman Meili Martin leads Radford with two wins this season. Sophomore Natalie Sayer and senior Taylor Fay earned their first victories of the year against Western Carolina, and senior Grace Sarver picked one up against Richmond.
