@Herd_Tennis Concludes Road Trip at Winthrop

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall women's tennis team will play its final road match of the regular season this weekend as it takes on the Winthrop Eagles Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Herd enters Sunday's match at 8-8 and is currently on a four-match winning streak, with the wins coming over West Virginia, William & Mary, the College of Charleston and Charlotte. The win over the 49ers marked the first Conference USA win of the season for the Herd.

Leading the way for the Herd is junior Derya Turhan with a 10-3 singles record, with all wins coming from the top spot. Classmate Rachael Morales is 9-4 in singles play, with eight of her nine wins coming at the No. 2 spot.

Winthrop enters Sunday's match with a 15-3 record. The Eagles are currently ranked 68th in the ITA Tennis rankings and have won seven of their last eight matches. Sophomore Mariana Humberg and freshman Lauren Proctor lead the Eagles with each posting a 17-1 record in singles play at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots, respectively. Humberg and Proctor have teamed up to post a 12-4 record at the No. 1 doubles spot as well.

Up next, Marshall will begin a three-match homestand with matches against Xavier on April 8 and Cincinnati on April 10. Both matches will start at 1 p.m.
