HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Saturday Marshall softball doubleheader with Conference USA opponent FIU has been moved up to a noon start time.
The forecast for Saturday, April 30, is for rain to begin to fall in the afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms coming through in the late afternoon to early evening.
Both teams are in a battle to get into the Conference USA tournament hosted by North Texas, May 11-14. Marshall (25-23, 9-9) sits in second place in the East division while FIU (25-24, 8-10) is in fourth. The top three teams from each division move on to the tournament and the final two seeds will come from the two teams with the next best records.
The Herd and the Panthers played through rain delays in Miami this past season as the Saturday doubleheader took over eight hours to complete. Marshall won both games that day 13-5 and 13-3. FIU took game three of the series, 9-1.
