HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall volleyball will close out its preseason training on Sunday at 1 p.m. inside the Cam Henderson Center by hosting its annual Green and White Scrimmage.

The scrimmage is free and opened to the public, so fans are welcome to cheer on the Thundering Herd in anticipation for the 2016 season.

"I know the team looks forward to this match up each year," Herd coach Mitch Jacobs said. "Matt Jackson and Taylor Strickland have drafted their teams and we will reveal them after Saturday's second practice. The team is looking solid and I look forward seeing them compete this weekend."

The Herd finished last year with a 16-14 overall record and the eighth seed in the Conference USA Tournament. Marshall returns 11 letterwinners, including five players that started at least 20 matches a year ago. Senior middle blocker Ally Kiekover was named to the 2016 Preseason All-Conference USA team.

Marshall begins the 2016 season at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. The Herd opens the tournament against Evansville on Friday, Aug. 26, while facing Northern Kentucky and the host school Indiana University on Saturday.
