BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Marshall men's soccer team hits the road this weekend to take on Bowling Green and Eastern Illinois. Kickoff at Bowling Green (2-0) is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday night. Marshall (1-1) and Eastern Illinois (0-1-1) will kickoff at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Friday will be the 14th meeting between Marshall and BGSU. Sunday will be the first meeting for Marshall and the Panthers.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Last time out Marshall came out firing against Detroit. The Herd outshot the Titans 17-6 in coming away with the 3-1 victory. Senior Trevor Starcher (Hurricane, W.Va.) scored his first goal of the season in the 60th minute. Fellow senior Daniel Jodah (Mississauga, Ontario) recorded his first goal of the season as well with a shot in the 90th minute.
Freshman Paul Whitener (Kansas City, Mo.) made his impact felt right away assisting on both of the seniors' goals. Whitener added to the scoreboard with the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute. All while playing 33 minutes.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
BGSU is 2-0 this season after defeating IUPUI 4-0 and the Appalachian State 3-1. Both games were at home. Senior Pat Flynn leads the team with two goals and senior Jacob Roth leads with three assists. Flynn was named to the National Team of the Week by TopDrawerSoccer Aug. 30. The Falcons have outshot its opponents 38-22 with 18 shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Anthony Mwembia has started and played all 180 minutes and has 11 saves to go along with his two victories.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Eastern Illinois is 0-1-1 in 2016. The Panthers played Northern Kentucky to a 1-1 draw after two overtimes. Eastern then fell to Milwaukee 2-1 at home. Senior Davis Wegmann and junior Justin Oliver have scored goals for the Panthers. Junior goalkeeper Mike Novotny has played all 210 minutes this season and has three saves.

UP NEXT
After this weekend's two game road swing, Marshall will return home to play Appalachian State Sept. 10 at Hoops Family Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
