@HerdVolleyball Travels to Stetson Wednesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall volleyball takes its four-match win streak on the road to Florida for a meeting with the Stetson Hatters on Wednesday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Freshman outside hitter Jac'cara Walker was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week. The Gainesville, Fla., native earned the honor of Toledo/ASICS Invitational Most Valuable Player after recording 36 kills, 16 digs and five aces over the weekend. She ranks first in C-USA with 21 service aces, good for .50 per set.
Senior Ally Kiekover and junior Kayla Simmons were named to the All-Tournament team at the Toledo Invitational. This season, Kiekover has 85 kills and hitting at .406, while Simmons leads the Herd with 261 assists.
Senior Cassie Weaver recorded her career 1,000th kill against the Rockets last Saturday. The Huntington, W.Va., native had 39 kills last week, including 32 at the Toledo Invitational. She had a team-high 16 kills against Fort Wayne.
Wednesday's match will be the second meeting all-time between the Herd and the Hatters. Marshall won the first meeting, 3-0, in 2011 at the IUPUI Tournament.
SCOUTING THE HATTERS
Stetson opens its home schedule on Wednesday after playing the first 10 matches on the road. The Hatters are 2-8 overall and are coming off a 2-1 weekend at the UNC Asheville Invitational. Stetson swept Alabama A&M and North Carolina Central, while falling to UNC Asheville in five sets. Stetson is led offensively by Madison Akins with 107 kills and hits at .316. Marissa Salazar has a team-high 105 digs.
RECORD BOOK WATCH
- With a 182 digs this season, senior Allie Kellerman has moved to fifth all-time in digs with 1,356.
- Kiekover moved up in the record books in kills, total blocks and block assists. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native ranks seventh all-time in kills with 992, while ranking ninth in block assists with 203 and 10th with 253 total blocks.
- Weaver is seventh all-time in kills (1,000) and eighth all-time with 2.75 kills per set.

UP NEXT
Marshall stays in Florida for the 2016 Active Ankle Challenge hosted by the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. The Herd will compete against Jacksonville and Florida A&M on Friday, while playing the seventh-ranked Gators on Saturday.
