@Herd_Tennis Finishes Day Two at UVA Fall Invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Marshall women's tennis team wrapped up a successful second day at the UVA Fall Invite by winning seven matches Saturday.
Derya Turhan, Stephanie Smith, Daniela Dankanych, Nikola Novackova and Rachael Morales each won matches for the Herd. Maddie Silver won a pair of matches for Marshall.
The Herd's productive day began with Silver taking her opening consolation round match against Fallon Delp of Virginia Tech, 7-6, 6-1. Silver lost to Natalya Malenko of ODU by walkover. Smith started her day by defeating Ali Mills of South Carolina, 6-3, 6-1, before falling to Meghan Kelley of Virginia, 7-5, 6-4. Silver defeated Smith by walkover to win third place in the consolation bracket of the orange singles flight. Novackova lost to Malenko, 6-1, 6-4, before rebounding to defeat Delp, 6-2, 6-2.
Dankanych opened up her day by dropping a match against Nataliya Vlasova of ODU, 7-5, 6-2. She responded by defeating Victoria Robertson of Utah, 6-2, 6-0. Marija Bogicevic lost to Luisa Rosa of Utah, 6-0, 6-1, and to Olivia Gaudrealt of Maryland by walkover. Morales won her first match of the day over Kallie Sperry-Rice of Utah, 6-3, 6-0, before falling to Utah's Alexia Petrovic, 6-2, 6-3. Turhan lost her first match of the day to Chloe Gullickson of Virginia, 6-3, 6-4, before defeating Camille Favero of Virginia, 6-4, 6-1.
