HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall volleyball team will open its 2017 spring schedule Wednesday against Morehead State at 6 p.m. inside the Cam Henderson Center.

The Thundering Herd will play three more home games this spring. Marshall welcomes Lindsey Wilson College on April 1 at 10 a.m. in Gullickson Gym. Ohio will visit Huntington on April 11 for an 8 p.m. match in the Henderson Center. The Herd closes its spring season on April 18 at 4 p.m. against the University of Charleston. Admission is free for all four events.

The Herd competed against Morehead State and Ohio during the 2016 season. Marshall won a five-set thriller against the Bobcats in Huntington, while defeating the Eagles in four sets at the West Virginia Capital Classic in Charleston, W.Va.

Marshall returns 13 student-athletes from last season, including rising seniors Justice Craft, Taylor Pelton and Kayla Simmons. The Herd also brings back Madelyn Cole, Madison Hill, Audrey Shannon, Tiffany Isaacs, Jac'cara Walker, Katie Smith, Jayden Jacobs, Shelby Conley, Lauren Mattmuller and Zoe Schreiber.

The Thundering Herd held a 22-8 overall record and was tied for second in Conference USA with an 11-3 record in 2016. Marshall featured five student-athletes who received all-conference honors, which was the most the Herd has had in a single season since joining C-USA in 2005.
