Swimming and Diving Finishes Day One of West Virginia Games

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - - Marshall's Swimming and Diving team completes day one of the West Virginia Games Friday night in Huntington. The Herd currently trails behind West Virginia University 475.5 to 358.5.
Marshall was excited to open the season at home and eager to support one another. Marshall started the event strong in day one, with several athletes beating last year's times at this same event.
The Herd lit up the evening in the 200 IM event, with a second, third, fifth, and eighth place finish. Catherine Bendziewicz was runner-up with a solid 2:07.65 time. Caroline Wanner finished just behind for third in 2:11.52.
Maddie Young had an impressive first night as well with a second place finish in the 3-meter dive.
With a quick turnaround, session two and three will begin early tomorrow.
