Swim and Dive Loses First Meet of 2018
Oct. 19, 2018
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Herd met former Mid-American Conference foe Ohio University for the 11th consecutive year Friday evening at Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium in Huntington.
Marshall, hosting its first dual meet of the season, was handed a tough loss to the Bobcats, 169-131. The Herd had claimed victory the last two seasons over Ohio, but the Bobcats emerged with the win this time around.
Marshall did rally together some impressive performances, giving itself a chance to compete. The Herd jumped to an early lead as the team of Jordyn O'Dell, Catherine Bendziewicz, Hannah Robins and Darby Coles touched the wall first in the 200 medley relay. Coles continued to impress with wins in the 100 and 200 freestyle.
O'Dell followed with a win in the 100 backstroke. Bendziewicz continued to shine for the Herd with wins in both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM.
The herd will go on the road to Oxford, Ohio, to face Miami University on Saturday, October 27. This will be Marshall's first road meet of the 2018-19 season.
