KETTERING, Ohio – Redshirt senior Thomas Frazier finished the Dayton Flyer Invitational in a three-way tie for second overall, Tuesday afternoon. The Marshall men's golf team came in fifth place out of 12 teams.
"We really had a good week," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "Thomas played great and had a chance to win coming down the stretch. Cameron (Root) played a great tournament and Kyle (Mitchell) stayed consistent and finished off a really good fall.
"We have a lot of things to work on this winter before we head to Georgia Southern, but we have great kids and I can't wait to watch the improvements they make this winter."
Frazier shot a 2-over 73 in the first round and bounced back with a 2-under 69 in rounds two and three. Redshirt sophomore Cameron Root, who played as an individual, ended the tournament tied for seventh after scoring a 1-under 70 in the second and third rounds. Freshman Kyle Mitchell also finished in the top 10, with a 3-over 216 for the tournament.
Joel Durnford of Illinois State led the field with a 3-under 210. Davidson took home the team award with a 9-over team score of 861.
