SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Marshall women's soccer team is back on the road for a Sunday afternoon match with the UTSA Roadrunners. Kickoff from Park West Athletic Complex is set for 2 p.m. eastern.

The Thundering Herd come in with a record of 5-5-2 overall and 3-2-0 in Conference USA. The Roadrunners enter with an overall record of 4-6-1 and 0-3-1 in conference action.

The match will be broadcast on CUSAtv.

"This is an important weekend," Herd head coach Kevin Long said. "As are all from here on out. The (C-USA tournament) bracket will start taking shape and we want to make sure we are on the right side of things. UTSA played a great game Friday night and will force us to bring our A game for sure.

"We will need to have better possession of the ball against them and continue to make strides limiting their chances in front of our goal."

Marshall is coming off a 3-2 loss at Charlotte, currently the second ranked team in conference. Redshirt junior Jayne Lawman got the Herd on the board in the second minute with her third goal of the season, but the 49ers answered with three-straight goals. Junior keeper Megan Bonelli did an excellent job to keep Marshall in the match with 10 saves against Charlotte's high-powered offense. Junior Marah Abu-Tayeh scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 88th minute to pull back within one.

UTSA is looking to get back on the winning side after dropping its past three matches. The Roadrunners fell 2-1 to league-leading Florida Atlantic on Friday. UTSA is led offensively by Lexi Bolton and Ellis Patterson who have five goals each this season. The team has scored 18 goals while giving up 21. Michelle Cole has been the lone player in the net with 43 saves and three shutouts.

Sunday is just the third all-time meeting between the two schools. Marshall leads the series 2-0. The last meeting was in 2015, a 2-1 overtime win for the Herd in San Antonio.

Following the match on Sunday, Marshall plays three of its final four regular season matches at home. The Herd takes on Rice (Oct. 12), North Texas (Oct. 14) and Louisiana Tech (Oct. 21) at Hoops Family Field before finishing the regular season at WKU (Oct. 26).
