HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men's basketball begins a stretch of five road games with a contest against the Akron Zips Saturday afternoon at James A. Rhodes Arena.

HAVE YOU HERD
Senior guard Jon Elmore collected his third game of 20 or more points in the Herd's last four contests in the victory over Morehead State, seventh overall this season.
 
Senior guard C.J. Burks is now top-20 in points in program history after his 10-point effort Monday night against the Eagles.
 
Marshall is 5-0 when leading at halftime.
 
Elmore and Burks have combined for 395 points this season.
 
Five of the Herd's six wins this season have come by 10 or more points.
 
Fifth-year head coach Dan D'Antoni's next win will the 80th of his career at Marshall.
 
Elmore has scored 10 or more points in 99 of his 106 games in a Herd uniform.
 
SCOUTING THE ZIPS
Akron is 6-3 this season behind second-year head coach John Groce, who made two appearances in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament with the Ohio Bobcats in 2010 and 2012. The Zips fell in their last contest at Purdue Fort Wayne, 68-65. Akron has a 15-point scoring margin and each of its three losses have come by five points or less. The Zips hold its opponents to 39 percent shooting from the field and just 29.6 percent from beyond the arc. Akron was picked to finish fifth in the MAC East division in the conference's preseason poll.

WHO TO KNOW
Daniel Utomi is the team's leading scorer averaging 15.4 points per game this season. Utomi takes a high volume of shots as has taken the most field-goal attempts and three-point attempts for the Zips.
 
Jimond Ivey averages 13 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, second and first on the team respectively. Ivey leads Akron in shooting average among qualifying players on the team making 51.9 percent of his field goals.
 
Loren Crist Jackson rounds out a trio of Akron players who average double-figure points with 12.8 per contest. Jackson also leads the team in assists with 35.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 27th meeting between the two programs, with Akron holding the lead with a record of 14-12. The Herd haven't won in Akron since Mar. 1, 2001.
