HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Herd men's basketball travels to Charlottesville to take on No. 4 Virginia in its final non-conference game of the season on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31).
HAVE YOU HERD
Senior guard Jon Elmore needs four assists to pass Mike D'Antoni for second most in program history.
Senior guard C.J. Burks has scored at least 10 points in all 12 games this season.
The Herd have never defeated a team ranked fifth or better in program history.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia comes into the contest with an 11-0 record. The Cavaliers are ranked fourth in the AP Poll and first in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. UVA holds its opponents to just 50.3 points per game as opposing offenses shoot 37.9 percent from the field and just 24.4 percent from beyond the arc. Virginia was tabbed to finish second in 2018-19 ACC Media Preseason Poll behind the Duke Blue Devils. The Cavaliers have two common opponents to this point with the Herd, defeating Maryland at College Park 76-71 and defeating William & Mary 72-40 in a home contest on Dec. 22.
WHO TO KNOW
De'Andre Hunter is Virginia's leading scorer with 14.8 points per game. Hunter also leads the team in made field goals (57) and is second on the team in rebounding (5.0). Hunter was the 2017-18 ACC Sixth Man of the Year and was also named to the conference's all-freshman team. The sophomore was named to the 2018-19 Preseason all-ACC second-team and is projected by ESPN to be a lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft if he chooses to declare after the season.
Ty Jerome leads the Cavaliers with 47 assists this season, while scoring 14.2 points per game, second on the team. Jerome was picked to the 2018-19 Preseason all-ACC second-team, while finishing last season on the all-ACC third-team.
Kyle Guy rounds out a trio of Cavaliers who average double-figure points with 14.1 points per game. Guy was the 2018 ACC Tournament MVP and was named the conference's 2017-18 first-team after the season. The then-sophomore was also an AP All-American being named to the third-team.
