Herd Men’s Basketball Faces Tough Test at Duquesne

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men's basketball goes on the road Wednesday (Dec. 5) to face off against the Duquesne Dukes at 7 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pa.
HAVE YOU HERD
Senior guard Jon Elmore has 2,038 points in his career, third most in program and Conference USA history.
Senior guard C.J. Burks is the lone Marshall player to score 10 or more points in all seven contests this season.
Elmore is also third all-time in program and C-USA history in assists with 635 helpers.
The Herd is 4-0 at home with a 1-2 road record.
In all of five of Marshall's victories, it outscored its opponent in the paint.
SCOUTING THE DUKES
The Dukes are 4-2 this season and are coming off a 74-53 loss to Pitt on Nov. 30.
Duquesne comes into the contest with an even scoring margin averaging 72.3 points per game and gets out rebounded by one board per game, 35.7-36.7.
The Dukes are shooting 42.4 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from three-point range in their six games. Duquesne averages 15.2 assists and 8.8 steals per game.
The Dukes were picked to finish 11th in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll.
WHO TO KNOW
Eric Williams Jr. leads Duquesne in scoring (14.2 points per game) and three-point shooting percentage (42.9). Williams Jr. also leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per game. Was on the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 all-rookie team.
Michael Hughes is second on the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game. The center is shooting 69.6 percent from the field and is playing in his first season with Dukes after sitting out last due to transferring from Akron.
Sincere Carry has 35 assists and 13 steals, both are team highs for Duquesne.
SERIES HISTORY
Marshall and Duquesne have met four times, with the Dukes leading the series 3-1. The two programs haven't met since 1978.
