Men’s Golf Takes Sixth at Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall men's golf team completed the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in sixth out of 15 teams Tuesday afternoon at the Guyan Golf and Country Club.
"I felt like we did a lot of really good things," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "Very impressed with some of our younger kids that we haven't had a chance to see yet. Kyle Mitchell and Isaac Prine played great for being freshmen.
When I look at it, I'm really excited because we had some of the older guys playing well and we have some talented kids in our younger classes."
Playing as an individual, freshman Isaac Prine finished tied for 14th. Prine shot a 4-under 67 in round one, and a 2-over 73 on Tuesday. Top finishers on the team for the Herd were redshirt senior Thomas Frazier and redshirt sophomore Matt Hoffman tied for 21st.
The Wichita State Shockers built out a 10-stroke lead on Monday and then held on as Eastern Kentucky made a great run on Tuesday. The Shockers finished at 19-under while EKU came in second at 13-under.
Zac Owens of Wichita State won the individual at 8-under 134 for the tournament. Owens shot a 5-under 66 on Monday and then a 3-under 68 on Tuesday. Billy Basham of EKU came in second at 6-under for the event.
