INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Marshall men's soccer team is back on the road Wednesday evening for a non-conference match at Butler. Kickoff from the Bud and Jack Sellick Bowl is set for 6 p.m.

Fans can tune in to the match through Facebook Live with the Butler Bulldogs.

The Thundering Herd enters the match with an overall record of 2-3-2. The Bulldogs come in at 1-5-1.

"Butler is a great team," Herd head coach Chris Grassie said. "They are back-to-back Big East Champs, so although they're down a little bit, we can't take them lightly. I feel we did everything right in the match against UAB, except for creating enough chances. We will strive to create more chances in this match.

"The lads know if we play well, we can play and beat anyone, so the match is in our hands."

Marshall is looking to get back on the winning track after going 0-2-2 over the past four matches. The Herd played to a 1-1 draw at UAB on Saturday, Sept. 22, down in Birmingham. Junior Jonas Westmeyer scored his second goal of the season at UAB. Keeper Paulo Pita continues to battle on in the net for the Herd with 25 saves, just seven goals allowed, a 0.94 goals against average, a .781 save percentage and three shutouts.

The Bulldogs last won a match with a 2-0 decision over then No. 16 Western Michigan on Aug. 30. Butler has lost four-straight since then including a 3-2 loss to Providence in its last match. Brandon Guhl leads the team with three goals and two assists. Alex Lehtinen has two goals and three other players have chipped in with one goal each.

The Bulldogs have been outscored 13-8 this season. Gabriel Gjergii has been the mainstay in the net for Butler and has recorded 27 saves while allowing 13 goals. He has a 1.76 goals against average and a .675 save percentage.

Marshall last played Butler in 2008 with the Bulldogs claiming a 3-2 victory in Dayton, Ohio.

Following Wednesday's match, Marshall finally returns to Hoops Family Field on Saturday, Sept. 29, to face Old Dominion. It will be the Herd's first home contest since Sept. 7 versus FIU.
