HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men's basketball looks to move to 2-0 in C-USA action when it takes on Charlotte at Halton Arena Saturday (Jan. 5) afternoon.
HAVE YOU HERD
Senior guard Jon Elmore passed Mike D'Antoni and Aaron Johnson of UAB for second-most assists in program and Conference USA history, respectively.
Freshman guard Taevion Kinsey scored 13 points on a five of six shooting night, including two of three attempts from three-point range, in his first start at Marshall. Kinsey played in 35 minutes dishing out three helpers and rejected three shots, all career-highs, in the win over Old Dominion.
Elmore collected 20 points and 10 assists for his first double-double of the season and the 18th of his career.
Sophomore guard Jarrod West made four of five shots from beyond the arc, including the game winner, at ODU in the conference opening win.
Marshall is 7-0 when leading at halftime this season.
Herd has forced more turnovers than its opponent in 12 of the 14 games this season and turned the ball over a season-low seven times at ODU.
Elmore has led Marshall in points in 10 games this season and 11 times in assists.
SCOUTING THE 49ERS
Charlotte comes into the game with a record of 3-9 and is on a four-game losing streak.
The 49ers average 57 points per game while giving up 68 per contest.
Charlotte has been out rebounds by just under three rebounds per game and is 3-3 at home.
