Women’s Soccer Travels to Texas for a Pair of Road Matches

Marshall will take on Rice and North Texas as part of the roadtrip

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall women's soccer (4-10-0, 2-4-0) heads to Texas to face Rice on Friday (Oct. 18) at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST and North Texas on Sunday (Oct. 20) for a 1 p.m. EST/Noon CST first kick.

LAST TIME OUT
This past week Marshall 3-2 in overtime to UTSA in its lone game.
 
Farah Abu-Tayeh put the Herd on top with a goal off a rebound in the second minute, but the Roadrunners quickly answered with a goal in the fourth minute of play.
 
After nearly 85 minutes of scoreless score soccer, UTSA scored with 62 seconds left in the contest to go up 2-1. However, Morgan White tied the game for MU 21 seconds later to force overtime.
 
The Roadrunners took the contest with a goal almost three minutes into overtime.
 
SCOUTING RICE
Rice is 6-4-2 on the year including 3-0-2. All three conference wins came 1-0 over Charlotte, UTSA and UAB with both draws coming 2-2 against Middle Tennessee and Louisiana Tech.
 
The Owls are lead in points by Haley Kostyshyn and Louise Stephens, who each have 10 points. Stephens has a team-leading five goals, while Kostyshyn is second in goals with four and tied for second in assists with two. Destiny Schultz leads the squad with three assists.
 
Bella Kilgore has started all 12 games in goal for Rice, posting a 3-2-1 record with one shutout.
 
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
North Texas enters the week 9-4-0 with a 4-1-0 record in Conference USA action. It had a four-game win streak snapped at UAB on Sunday (Oct. 13) in a 1-0 loss.
 
Berklee Peters has a team-high goals and 20 points this season, while Logan Bruffet is second on the squad in points and goals with 10 and four, respectively. Allie Byrd leads the squad with four assists.
 
Kelsey Bran has played in goal in all 13 contests this season for the Mean Green. She has four shutouts this season.
