Men’s Basketball Scores 100 in Exhibition Win Over Glenville State

Brooks-Harris led the Herd with 19 points
Box Score | D'Antoni Press Conference
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men's basketball used a dominating second-half effort to takedown the Glenville State Pioneers, 100-66, in an exhibition game on Tuesday night at the Cam Henderson Center.
"Once we got it out and spread them out, the game got better," Marshall head coach Dan D'Antoni said after the win over the Pioneers. "The first half I substituted on a platoon. That's difficult for teams to get into a rhythm. The second half I went to one to two at a time. Then we got them down a little bit and put other guys in. We obviously still have a lot of work to do. We're not shooting the ball as well as we can from three. We have to be a better shooting team. I think we are. We have to do a better job of getting those shots."
Redshirt freshman forward Cam Brooks-Harris led the Herd in points with 19 in 18 minutes of action while shooting 7-of-13 from the field, including 3-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Junior forward Mikel Beyers dominated the boards for MU with 13, while adding seven assists and eight points to his stat line. Beyers went 3-of-4 from the field and made his lone three-pointer in the contest.
Joining Brooks-Harris in double-figures were sophomore guard Taevion Kinsey and junior guard Jarrod West with 14 and 12, respectively. Kinsey had six assists and three rebounds, while West grabbed five boards, dished out four assists and had three steals.
Redshirt freshman guard Jeremy Dillion had a game-high four steals, while redshirt junior forward Jannson Williams had a game-high two blocks.
The Pioneers kept it close for the majority of the first half, but Marshall took a 10-point lead, 45-35, into the break.
The second half was a different story for the Herd as it used three different runs of eight or more points to put the game out of reach for the Pioneers. GSC's largest run in the second half was four points twice.
NOTES
Marshall out rebounded Glenville State 57-45.
The Herd held the Pioneers to 30 percent (25-82) from the field, including 14 percent (6-43) from three-point range.
All 16 student-athletes to see action for MU scored at least one point and all except for one had at least one rebound.
Marshall had 30 assists on 40 makes from the field.
The Herd shot 52.6 percent (40-76) from the field in the win.
