HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall volleyball team returns to the Cam Henderson Center on Friday to take on the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
 
The Thundering Herd enters the match at 13-9 overall and 4-5 in Conference USA. The Lady Techsters come in at 12-10 and 2-6 in conference.

Last Meeting: September 30, 2018 in Ruston, La. – Marshall won in three sets.
 
The Herd comes off a big win at UTSA on Sunday, Oct. 27, in three sets. Marshall had been on a five-match losing streak and came through with a great performance in San Antonio. Redshirt junior Ciara Debell led all players with 15 kills, including the final point in all three sets, and had seven kills in the third frame. Sophomore Sarah Schank had 10 kills in the match. The Herd dominated at the net yet again with 16 total team blocks. Sophomore Isa Dostal and junior Destiny Leon had their hands in seven each, while Debell assisted on a career-high six rejections.
 
With the block show at UTSA, Marshall increased its blocks per set average to 2.94, first in conference, and moved up to sixth in the NCAA. Dostal leads the team, Conference USA and is 12th in the nation at 1.42 per set. Leon is second on the team, in C-USA and is 18th nationally with 1.40 per set. Both players are over 100 total blocks for the year. The last time Marshall had two players with over 100 blocks in a season was 2006 when Chelsea Lazar and Uche Ndubisi had 121 and 116, respectively. Leon has 108 total blocks and Dostal has 104.
 
Debell continues to lead the team on offense with 320 kills, an average of 4.10 per set. Schank is next with 163 followed by Leon with 128 and sophomore Mion Weldon with 111. Sophomore Gabrielle Coulter and junior Sydney Lostumo keep rolling along in the setter rotation. Coulter has 460 assists and Lostumo has 322. Lostumo leads the team with 25 service aces adding three more in the win at UTSA.
 
Senior libero Amber Weber increased her consecutive matches streak with at least 10 digs to 25 as she recorded 14 at UTSA. She brought her season total up to 378, an average of 4.85 per set.
 
Opponent
Louisiana Tech, under second year head coach Amber McCray, has already doubled its win total from 2018 with 12 victories this season. The Lady Techsters had two, four-match winning streaks in September including its C-USA opener at home against UAB in four sets. Louisiana Tech also dropped five conference matches in a row before getting its second league win against FIU on Oct. 25. The squad is coming off a three-set loss at North Texas on Sunday.
 
The Lady Techsters have four players with over 100 kills in Madeline Davis (191), Kaitlyn Adams (188), Jordyn Carswell (159) and Emily Boylan (100). Abigail Hildenbrand leads with 498 assists and Mia Prostran has 259.
 
On defense, Morgan Currie leads the squad with 337 digs at an average of 4.27 per set. The team is averaging 1.91 blocks per set this season and Marie-Helene Verlinden leads with 58 total.

The Herd stays at home for another C-USA match as the Charlotte 49ers come to Huntington on Sunday at 1 p.m. Marshall defeated Charlotte earlier this year in four sets on the road.
