Women’s Soccer Loses Season Finale to WKU

M. Abu-Tayeh scored her ninth goal of the season
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall women's soccer (4-14-0, 2-8-0) dropped it final game of the season in a 3-1 loss to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Friday night at Hoop Family Field.
Herd goalkeeper Lindsay Langley made saves on the first two Hilltopper shots on goal of the night, but Lucy Lyon struck in the 20th minute and then Ashley Leonard fired home another goal for WKU in the 22nd minute as Marshall trailed 2-0.
Nine minutes later, Marah Abu-Tayeh put home her ninth goal of the season on an assist from Rene Ross to cut the deficit in half.
Mary Lawman put a shot on goal at 35:02 mark and Metztli Gonzalez put another on target at 41:14, but both were saved as the score remained 2-1 WKU at halftime.
Isidora Pekez struck for the Hilltoppers in the 77th minute as Marshall fell by a final score of 3-1.
NOTES
M. Abu-Tayeh's ninth goal of the season put her in a six-way tie for second most in a season in program history, while her 24 points put her in sole possession of fourth most in a season program history.
M. Abu-Tayeh finished her career with 17 goals, tying her with Kassie Hollman for sixth most in program history.
Langley closed out the season with 97 saves, fourth most in a season in program history.
Ross had eight assists this season, third most in a season in program history.
