MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Marshall Women's Soccer (3-2-2) held strong against No. 7 WVU (5-0), ultimately falling by a 1-0 scoreline in front of a full capacity at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium Sunday evening.
Marshall - who entered with one draw in nine previous matches all-time against Top-25 competition - played the Mountaineers to a scoreless first 45. Goalkeeper Emma Durand made six saves to keep WVU off the board heading into the break.

Following her consecutive clean sheets entering Sunday's match, Durand finished with a career-high 10 saves total.
The Herd worked its way into the match, finishing with three shots and a pair of late corners in search of an equalizer.
Marshall will have a full seven days off to prepare for its final non-conference contest on the road at Bellarmine. The Herd and Knights will play on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
