Women’s Soccer Prepares for Final Non-Conference Match Sunday at Bellarmine

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – After a week away from competition, Marshall Women's Soccer (3-2-2) travels to Louisville to face Bellarmine (1-3-1) in what will be the Herd's final contest before starting Sun Belt Conference play.
Kickoff from Owsley B. Frazier Stadium is set for 7 p.m. Sunday night.

COACH RAFA SIMOES
- Head Coach Rafa Simoes is in his third season leading the MU Women's Soccer program. The former associate with the Herd men's team is a 2018 graduate of the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played for then-head coach Chris Grassie.
- Simoes and the Herd had a resurgent 2025 season. In his second year as skipper for MU, Simoes led the team to win its most games in a decade (8) with four All-Conference selections, also the program's most since 2015.
PRE-MATCH NOTES
- Marshall put together a strong defensive performance against No. 7 WVU in its last match, specifically goalkeeper Emma Durand. The Herd's junior was named the SBC Defensive Player of the Week following her career-high 10 save performance.
- The honor for Durand is Marshall's second-consecutive SBC Player of the Week award. Wiktoria Mikrut was named the SBC Offensive Player of the Week from the previous two matches where she scored a hat trick and added a match-winning assist.
- Nine different Herd players have registered an assist this season. Delfina Lombardi and Geovanna Souza pace the team with two assists each.
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
- Bellarmine won its first match of the season Thursday evening, defeating Wright State 2-1. The victory for Head Coach Steve Bornhoffer's side follows an 11 win season last year.
- Junior Campbell Tippey leads the Knights with two goals this season, including a goal in the team's victory Thursday.
- Sunday will be the first regular season meeting between the two sides in program history.
