Bendziewicz, Young Earn C-USA Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors

Duo recognized

IRVING, Tx. – Marshall swimmer Catherine Bendziewicz and diver Maddie Young were each recognized by Conference USA as the league's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, on Wednesday.
 
Bendziewicz picked up her second Swimmer of the Week award this season after earning four first-place finishes in two days against Toledo and Bowling Green. On Nov. 8, Bendziewicz recorded a victory for Marshall vs. Toledo in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.65, the third-fastest time in C-USA this season. The next day, she picked up individual victories in the 200 Free (1:53.62) and 200 Breast (2:23.52) against Bowling Green. Bendziewicz also swam the lead on the 200 Free Relay team that notched a winning mark of 1:37.06 vs BGSU. Swimming the 100 Breast within minutes after competing in the 200 freestyle, she placed second at 1:07.31.
 
Young competed Friday and Saturday, scoring season-best performances on both the 1-meter (249.05) and 3-meter (266.85) boards Friday evening against Toledo and Florida Gulf Coast. She placed second and fourth overall in Friday's session on 3m and 1m, respectively. Young also placed third in both events Saturday afternoon against Bowling Green.
 
Marshall is back in action at the Liberty Invitational a week from Friday.
