BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Thundering Herd finished day one at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in seventh place—tallying up 13 team points. Let's dig into some of the highlights:
Marshall's last indoor competition of the season began on Saturday morning, with a 10:15 a.m. start time for the pentathlon. Three Herd athletes, Sarah Bever, Torie Derrow and Takira Williams, competed in the pentathlon, which consisted of 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and an 800-meter run. Sarah Bever placed fourth overall, tying for second in the high jump and finishing first in the 800-meter.
The Herd had a great showing in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries, as all three competing Marshall athletes qualified for the final on Sunday. Christianna Dogan finished third in Heat two. Safiyyah Mitchell won Heat three, while Taylor Robinson finished third in the same heat. Top-eight times from all heats qualified for the final: Mitchell's time was second, Robinson's time was fifth, and Dogan's time was eighth.
Hasana Clark wrapped up a great indoor field season, placing second in weight throw--just days after picking up Conference USA field athlete of the week honors.
Sarah Bever and Torie Derrow will kick off the day tomorrow, competing in high jump at 12:00 p.m.
The first two events can be streamed online through the CUSA TV live stream link above. However, at 3 p.m. ET viewers will need to switch to ESPN+ to watch the remaining five events.
The awards presentation will take place at 5:15 p.m.
