Marshall tied for third with North Texas
ATLANTA – Marshall Swimming and Diving opened the first day of competition at the 2019 Conference USA Championships with a bronze medal, a broken school record and broken individual records.
The evening began with the 200 Medley Relay. Marshall finished fourth with a time of 1:40.09, the second fastest time in school history. The Herd then earned a bronze medal in the 800 Freestyle Relay (7:18.46), setting the third fastest time in school history.
"It was a fantastic start for our women tonight," said Marshall head coach Ian Walsh. "Catherine (Bendziewicz) led off the 800 free relay with a 200 freestyle school record, taking off more than a second from her time last season (1:47.73 from 1:46.26)."
"Jordyn O'Dell, Caroline Wanner and Maddie Schaffer had lifetime bests in the 50 Free, just outside of our all-time top 10. We're looking forward to getting the rest of our group racing tomorrow morning."
Marshall currently sits tied with North Texas for third with 62 points.
